Privacy Policy

The short version

01What we collect

Only what we need to negotiate your bill:

We never ask for your Social Security number. Your provider may ask you to confirm the last four digits, a security code, or a PIN as part of verifying your identity — you give that to them, directly, and it's between you and them. We don't record it and we don't keep it.

02How we use it

To prepare for and run your negotiation call, to schedule that call, to charge our fee if we save you money, and to follow up afterward to confirm the savings posted.

That's the whole list.

03We don't sell it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We never have.

04Who we share it with

A short list of services we use to run the business. Each one gets only what it needs:

Your provider
Spectrum, AT&T, Cox — during the call you authorize, with you on the line.
Stripe
Payment processing. Stripe stores your card; we never see the full number.
Calendly
Scheduling your call.
Google Workspace
Email.
Cloudflare
Website hosting and security.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

05Payments

Your card is collected when you submit the intake form and stored securely by Stripe. It is not charged at that time.

It's charged only after a rate reduction is confirmed live on your call and you approve it. Full card numbers are held by Stripe and never stored on our systems.

06Cookies and advertising

We use cookies and similar tools to run the site and measure our advertising.

That includes the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which tells us when someone who saw one of our ads submits the form or books a call — so we know which ads are worth paying for. This measurement data is shared with Meta and is covered by Meta's privacy policy.

You can limit this through your browser settings and through your ad preferences on Meta's platforms.

07Call handling

We don't record calls. You're on the line for the entire negotiation and hear every offer as it's made.

08How long we keep it

We keep your intake and outcome records as long as needed to run the service and meet tax and record-keeping obligations — generally seven years.

You can ask us to delete yours sooner. See Your California rights.

09Your California rights

If you're a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we've collected about you, to have it deleted, to have it corrected, and to not be treated differently for exercising those rights.

Because we don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there's nothing to opt out of on that front — but you're welcome to confirm that with us.

To make a request, email hello@trimmyrate.com. We'll verify your identity first and respond within 45 days.

10Children

This service is for adults who pay their own utility bills. It isn't directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

11Security

We use encrypted connections throughout, and payment data is handled entirely by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep the amount of sensitive information we hold deliberately small.

12Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
